THE GAFF – CYT Last Production

Free Gaff, what could possibly go wrong? – Just a small gathering of friends, nothing too wild –Will Luan finally get Ali’s attention. Will Keith be with Lauren at the end of the night, or will The Bitches of Eastwall show up and wreck everything? There’s no way of avoiding some sort of drama.  Drinking games, dance-offs, break-ups, double-drops and a sink full of vomit later, and the quiet-couple-of-cans is definitely turning into a night to remember (or a night to forget).

Devised, written and performed by the young people at the Complex Youth Theatre, this new work for audiences aged 14+ is a portrait of that stronghold of teenage resistance and experimentation that materializes during a free gaff. Staged in an immersive style, and featuring original spoken-word performances woven through the text, The Gaff is a glimpse into the glory and grimness of the session, and how it helps us to try, to fail, and to grow into adulthood.
