The Complex is a multi-disciplinary arts movement, committed to transposing unoccupied sites into centres of professional arts practice. It makes its own original work in theatre, visual art, film, music and young people’s theatre under Complex Youth Theatre. It also programmes-in work across all mediums embracing theatre, music, dance, performance art and circus.  It is interested in work that is of a meaningful social value and therefore endeavours to create settings in spaces that dispense with barriers and partitions to allow accessibility and open engagement. Since 2009 it has enjoyed a nomadic existence, making bases in seven sites in Dublin’s northwest inner city. In September 2015, it opened a new permanent centre in Little Green Street, Dublin 7, comprising nine artist’s studios and two open plan performance /exhibition spaces. It is intended to be the North inner City’s new live arts centre and complement and contribute to the imminent regeneration of the markets area.

The Complex has received support from Dublin City Council, The Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, the Arts Council, CDYSB, Leargas, and the Smithfield Business Association.
