Join the Improvised Music Company (IMC) on Thursday, 28 November from 7:30 for a night of new music from vocalist, cellist, and composer Aleka. The artist will be performing music from her new project 'Cailleacha agus Bandia.'
This project sees a point of departure from her usual influence of Romanian folk music, instead, looking to Irish mythology for inspiration. She has chosen 4 female characters from these great mythological stories as her basis for a set of brand new compositions.
Developing from a collaboration as part of IMC's Navigator Residency programme at Garter Lane Arts Centre in Waterford, Aleka is also collaborating for the first time with 2 visual artists who will create visuals for each piece.
This will be a truly immersive experience with live visuals coinciding with soaring vocals, melancholic cello, alongside supportive guitar from long-time collaborator Chris Guilfoyle.
This event is presented by Aleka in association with Improvised Music Company, supported by the Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon. Tickets are available here.
