All Earth Once Drowned | 4 April

Composer Ed Bennett presents a fresh incarnation of his renowned Decibel Ensemble for the premiere of new commission All Earth Once Drowned, to texts by poet Cherry Smyth.
Through a combination of music and spoken word, Bennett’s work addresses some of the most pertinent environmental issues of our time in a collective call for action. Bennett has gathered Irish and British musicians of international standing into a 10-piece ensemble, to create deeply personal music in response to Smyth’s texts. Cherry Smyth performs with the ensemble, interweaving her texts throughout this expansive composition, which ranges from music of huge energy and rage to quiet and delicate introspection. Supported by Beyond Borders from the PRS Foundation.

In The Dark | 4 April

Secret duos from New Music Dublin artists.
Following Improvised Music Company’s Blind Date Jazz series, In the Dark brings together pairs of improvising musicians from across New Music Dublin’s programme for an exploration of intuition, listening and spontaneity. The twist? Neither musicians nor audience have any idea who is performing. Unknown, unplanned and unseen—this is an encounter in pure improvised sound, created entirely spontaneously by the artists.
