Amidst their final few days of rehearsals, the On the Waterfront cast met with members of The Dublin Dock Workers Preservation Society of Ringsend, who were kind enough to drop into the rehearsal room and give the actors a quick tutorial on various pieces of equipment used by Dockers.
The DDWPS is an ongoing project which seeks to preserve the stories of Dublin's Dockers, Checkers, and their friends. They currently hold a collection of over 2,400 photos from 1980 to 2010 and are accepting more.
The Dock workers first-hand experience has been invaluable to the actors as they hone and sharpen their characters ahead of the play's run at The Complex.
On the Waterfront, in its Irish theatrical premiere, runs 1 - 16 of November with previews 30 & 31 October. Preview tickets are just €18 + fees! Don't miss out, get yours now.
