The Complex presents Origin Story, a trio redefining contemporary jazz, live at The Cooler. As a space dedicated to boundary-pushing artists, The Cooler provides the perfect setting for the group's exploratory sound.
Described by The Irish Times as “one of the freshest voices in Irish jazz and a must-hear for anyone who wants to know where the piano trio is headed in the 21st century”, Origin Story brings together three of Ireland’s most respected jazz musicians: pianist Greg Felton, bassist Cormac O'Brien, and drummer Matthew Jacobson. With over 25 years of shared history, their collaboration results in music that is both deeply rooted in jazz tradition and fearlessly innovative.
Their debut album, Good Friday, was named Irish Times Jazz Album of the Year 2020, cementing their reputation as one of the most vital forces in Irish jazz. Since forming as a trio in 2016, they have delivered standout performances at Galway Jazz Festival, Bray Jazz Festival, New Ross Piano Festival, IMC’s Signal Series, and Howth Blues & Jazz Festival, as well as holding longstanding residencies at Dwarf Jar and the Liquor Rooms.
The Complex welcomes audiences to The Cooler for an evening of provocative jazz as Origin Story continues to chart the course for the modern piano trio.
