Studio Artists March Update

Here's what some of The Complex Studio Artists are getting up to in March.

Alison Pilkington

In March, Pilkington will take part in two shows.

'Paradoxes', will run at Quay Arts in Newport, Isle of Wight, from 12 March - 07 May. The exhibition will feature 52 artists, and showcase the breadth of contemporary painting practice. Pilkington's painting 'A Hollow To Dance In' will be featured in the exhibition, organised by Freya Purdue alongside co-curators Natalie Dowse and Phil Illingworth.

'Somewhere the Zebra is dancing' runs from 14 March - 30 April in Schönfeld Gallery, Brussels. Pilkington's work will feature alongside artist Krista Autio.

Hazel Egan

Running now until 31 March, Egan's installation 'Palimpsest' will be available to view in Black Church Print Studio.

Curated by Debi Paul for the Black Church Street Cabinet as part of the Studio's 40th anniversary events, the print installation is a site-specific piece that references the physical studio, and celebrates the many artists and members that have occupied the building over the years.

Rónán Ó Raghallaigh

Earlier this year, Ó Raghallaigh's exhibition 'Vae Vicits' ran at Platform Arts, Belfast.

To mark the show closing, the artist had a Zoom interview with Co-Director of Platform Arts, Lucy Devlin. Ó Raghallaigh discussed his Druidic baptism, the background to his painting 'Boudica' and how the Celt has been (mis)represented.

The talk is available to view on the artist's website.
