Our current writer-in-residence Julie Morrissy has finished her recent response to a live performance by composer, cellist, and vocalist Aleka, which took place in The Cooler at The Complex. Aleka’s new project, 'Cailleacha agus Bandia', delves into Irish mythology, bringing four mythological female figures to life through an evocative blend of voice and cello. Her performance provided fertile ground for Morrissy's poetic response.
Titled 'A New Energy', Julie Morrissy’s response is politically charged and deeply reflective – read it here. This piece follows Julie’s earlier response to Waystation, a TU Dublin graduate exhibition. In that work, she mirrored the spatial intricacies of the gallery, formatting her writing to reflect the exhibition’s layout. This is just one example of how Julie pushes the boundaries of traditional literature, bridging the visual and literary arts in dynamic ways.
